Top 10: Cruise Destinations

January is known as the month when “cruise season” begins - through March, sun-seekers are able to catch a break from the cold. During this period most cruises for the year are trimmed down in price, as people escape towards the turquoise-blue waters of the Caribbean, in order to the majestic ice caps of Alaska. This is a list of our top 10 cruise destinations that provide both relaxing and exciting adventures for each traveler.

Panama Canal

Not only a must because the Canal is probably the world's most amazing engineering project, however this destination shows man's colossal fingerprints on nature because the canal links two oceans and separates continents. Pretty despite the excruciatingly painful humidity, but that is why you are on a cruise, so jump overboard for any cool-off...

Aruba
We like fjords as much as the following guy, but let's head down south. The term on the sea is that Aruba may be the Caribbean's answer to Las Vegas with its posh casinos and opulent resorts. Obviously, however, Aruba kicks Vegas' butt because of its beaches. Oh yeah, the folks there like to party, that also helps, and they are fairly friendly and hospitable too.

Hong Kong

So what if most locals are fleeing Hong Kong -- forget politics and potential instability and join the a large number of cruise tourists that are headed for the former British Crown Colony which was recently transferred to China. And thus what if the city is no longer Asia's financial center? Hong Kong still offers visitors some good amenities and an opportunity to comprehend the results of Capitalism blending with Communism.

Norway

Perhaps we like Scandinavian countries because of their female offerings, but many seem to take a liking to those Northern countries because of their amazing geographical traits: fjords and sky-high rocky cliffs, all from the bird's eye view within the water.

Cayman Islands

Does the sound of soppy white sand, underwater reefs and shipwrecks (serious) sound tempting? While most financiers see the spot as a tax haven, we believe of Cayman as a paradise. The Caymans offer tourists from trendy shops to spectacular Caribbean charm. The intangible: you do not even need a translator!

Australia / Nz

Up until recently, New Zealand had little to provide as a cruise destination. Thankfully, it has changed recently as cruise companies have added more exotic spots for their itineraries. And what is more exotic than New zealand and australia? Rapidly, this area has risen in popularity contests, since it's breathtaking natural jewels are first rate with its glaciers and hidden beaches. Whether you'd rather party with the Kiwis or the Ozzies, you're guaranteed a great time.

Alaska

Until my visit to Alaska, my fondest memory from the 50th State was Northern Exposure . But seeing the steep mountains took my breath away. Even though this might not please the heat-seeking tourist, it'll more than satisfy any other visitor's appetite for superb scenery. If you're able to, try to get on land and go through the continent's highest peak, Mt. McKinley, to determine how far ahead you can watch out.

French Riviera

The Mediterranean has too many offerings to even make an effort to try to narrow them down -- but my Editor insists which i must. So after further review, in france they Riviera stands out. Why? What is the common denominator between France's Cannes and Monaco's Monte Carlo? Okay, there's more than one, but perhaps both spots are renowned because both of them are located along the amazing French Riviera and it is scenic views.

Virgin Islands

What is so virgin about these islands we can't know (especially after our trip). The united states Islands, in particular, offer a certain charm because they are less commercialized. This beautiful and pristine island got a bit of notorious headlines after hurricanes devastated neighboring islands and lots of flocked here instead.

Barbados

Barbados offers all you need with unspoiled charm and class: hot sun, warm sand, blue water that morphs in to the horizon, friendly people, tropical breezes, in addition to some of the most historic sites in Bridgetown; the island's port. Beaches are aplenty; Batts Rock, Paynes Bay and Folkestone Park in St. James, or Gibbs Beach and Mullins Bay in St. Peter. You can spend your entire trip at one of these simple jewels and you would not believe that you missed a thing. Just don't spend your whole trip in your room.
