Christian Mothers Day Poems

"A Part of Me" is an original Christian poem submitted by an About.com member. Because the writer sorts through memories of her mother along with other godly women in her life, she provides a prayer of thanks. Do you have an authentic Christian prayer that would encourage or benefit another believer? Perhaps you've written a distinctive poem you'd like to share with others.

Bless your mom on A birthday with one of these poems, chosen particularly with godly mothers in mind.
God's Helpers

God couldn't be in every place
With loving hands to assist erase
The teardrops from each baby's face,
And thus He thought of mother.

He couldn't send us here alone
And then leave us to a fate unknown;
Without providing for Their own,
The outstretched arms of mother.

God couldn't watch us night and day
And kneel beside our crib to wish,
Or kiss our little aches away;
And thus He sent us mother.

So when our childhood days began,
He simply couldn't take command.
That's why He placed our tiny hand
Securely into mother's.

The times of youth slipped quickly by,
Life's sun rose higher on the horizon.
Full grown were we, yet ever nigh
To like us still, was mother.

So when life's span of years shall end,
I understand that God will gladly send,
To welcome home her child again,
That ever-faithful mother.

To Mother

You painted no Madonnas
On chapel walls in Rome,
However with a touch diviner
You lived one out of your home.

You wrote no lofty poems
That critics counted art,
However with a nobler vision
You lived them inside your heart.

You carved no shapeless marble
With a high-souled design,
But with a finer sculpture
You shaped this soul of mine.

You built no great cathedrals
That centuries applaud,
However with a grace exquisite
Your lifetime cathedraled God.

Had I the present of Raphael,
Or Michelangelo,
Oh, exactly what a rare Madonna
My mother's life would show!

A Mother's Love
Occasionally only a mother's love
Can understand our tears,
Can soothe our disappoints
And calm our fears.
There are times when only a mother's love
Can share the happiness we feel
When something we've wished for
Quite suddenly is real.

Occasionally only a mother's faith
Might help us on life's way
And inspire in us the boldness
We need from day to day.

For a mother's heart along with a mother's faith
And a mother's steadfast love
Were fashioned through the angels
And sent from God above.
